About Us

Blackstone Chess Academy is a membership organization for chess enthusiasts at every level. Club meetings, tournaments, and special events take place at the Blackstone Chess Center at The Grant, 250 Main Street, in downtown Pawtucket RI. The entrance is adjacent to Kafe Lila.

Members get discounts to all Blackstone Chess events, as well as discounts on books and other merchandise. We offer adult, youth, and family memberships. Non-members can participate in events or play at the club. After the first visit, non-members can either join or play for a small fee.

Introductory membership is only $20 for the first six months! Inquire at the club about membership plans and benefits.

We are just a minute or two off of interstate 95 (exit 27), and just a few minutes from the East Side of Providence. It is less than 20 minutes from Warwick, Barrington, or Attleboro, and about 30 minutes from Woonsocket, Franklin, Dedham or Fall River.

Driving Directions

From Providence East Side: Follow Hope St. or Blackstone Blvd. to Pawtucket. Continue on East Ave., which becomes George St., and crosses over Route 95. Take a right at the end of the road, enter the parking garage on the right.

From the North: Take Route 95 South to exit 27, Pawtucket- North Providence, Rt. 1-15-114. Take a right off the exit onto George Street. Continue on George St. to the end of the road, then take a right. The parking garage is on the right.

From the South: Take Route 95 North to exit 27, Downtown Pawtucket. Take a left at the second light, George St. Follow George St. over the highway. At the end of the road, take a right. The parking garage is on the right.

From Pawtucket/Central Falls: Main Street in downtown Pawtucket is one way. Come in from George St/Park Place as directed above, or from Exchange St. or Central Falls by taking Broad Street into downtown. The parking garage will be on the right, just past China Inn.

The bus stop in downtown Pawtucket is only a block away. Visitors from the Boston area can take the bus to downtown Providence, and connect to the RIPTA bus (99) to Pawtucket.
