The first volume of GM Avrukh's monumental series which presents a high level repertoire with 1.d4, based on leading edge main line theory, supported by rigorous analysis of every variation. This book will not only be a challenge to those brave enough to dive into its deep analysis, but is sure to present an even steeper challenge to their opponents.

This is a serious work that could easily be used by a Grandmaster preparing for a top level tournament, but there is no doubt that an ambitious advanced club player will benefit enormously by tackling this 500 pound gorilla!

As I continue to look over the book, I keep finding one cool line after another. ... I could continue quoting lines like this forever, but suffice it to say that I love this book ... GRANDMASTER REPERTOIRE 1.d4 Volume One will prove useful for players 1900 right up to grandmaster. Another triumph for Quality Chess.

I think that Avrukh's book is one of the best opening books of the year, maybe even the best one if you're an advanced player (say, 2200 or above) ... If you're going to get this book, be ready for long hours of difficult study; but if you can handle the challenge, you'll definitely be rewarded with greater chess understanding. In conclusion, whether or not it's appropriate for the majority of players, this is a brilliant contribution to the literature.
